Welcome to Whispers From The Woods.
I’m Debbie…single mother…photographer…soap maker…seamstress…painter…runner…lover of nature…sometimes sarcastic…always willing to laugh…following my chosen path…a work in progress…magikal one.
My two beautiful teen aged daughters (Alanna and Cailin) are growing up much too quickly. My oldest has graduated…the youngest has two more years of high school. They make life interesting……but I would not trade one single moment of it for the world.
I work at the College of William and Mary ~ a working and teaching university for the last 317 years! The campus is filled with history, which makes it an incredibly interesting place to work…..but it has challenges too. The campus is situated just on the edge of the Colonial Williamsburg area.
I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I was born in this area but my father was in the service so we moved several times as I was growing up. I eventually ended up back in this area in my early teens. After graduation, I grew restless and ventured across the country and eventually settled in Denver, Colorado for several years where I met my ex-husband. When the urge to explore new places struck again, we moved to Dallas, Texas for several years. I soon ached for the comfort of home and returned to Virginia to finally settle down. We married, bought our home, I gave birth to my daughters ~ but unfortunately happily ever after with their father wasn’t meant to be ~ we divorced and he returned to Colorado.
Sometimes life doesn’t work out like you expected it to…..but I like to think it all happens for a reason so I hang on and enjoy the ride.
“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.”
